Astrology Books
In addition, the Bookstore features many of the titles that have influenced astrologer Kathryn C. Donovan’s approach to reading horoscope charts and working with her clients. Most titles are appropriate for astrologer and non-astrologer alike.

Our online store “lives” on Amazon — click any of the links below to enter the entire Depth Astrology Bookstore, which is divided into the categories noted below.

Myth and Archetype
Books that amplify and analyze the stories and symbols used in astrology.

For example, Archetypes of the Zodiac by Kathleen Burt analyzes each zodiac sign through the myths associated with that sign. Burt, a Jungian therapist as well as an astrologer, parses out the psychological dynamics of each mythological figure — Dionysus, Parsifal, King Minos — to demonstrate the strengths and challenges that come with each sign.

Other books filed under Myth and Archetype: Women Who Run with the Wolves by Clarissa Pinkola Estes, The Power of Myth by Joseph Campbell, Goddesses in Everywoman by Jean Shinoda Bolen, and much more. Take me to the Myth and Archetype section.

Reading Charts
Books for astrologers seeking to deepen, integrate and expand their chart reading skills.

For example, Aspect Pattern Astrology by Bruno and Louise Huber and Michael Alexander Huber is a rich and edifying resource for astrologers who are searching for a reliable way to integrate pieces of the horoscope chart into an overall picture of personality and motivation. The Hubers’ research-backed approach, grounded in psychosynthesis, helps connect clients with the core of their personality.

Other books filed under Reading Charts: The Lunation Cycle by Dane Rudhyar, Saturn: A New Look at an Old Devil by Liz Greene, Planets in Transit: Life Cycles for Living by Robert Hand, and much more. Take me to the Reading Charts section.

Big, Huge Ideas
Books written by giant minds that come close to capturing the nature of the universe, the individual and the relationship between the two.

For example, The Passion of the Western Mind: Understanding the Ideas that Have Shaped Our World View by Richard Tarnas is a staggering tome tracing the lines of thought in western culture from ancient Greece to modern times. It is best read in small bites but is highly recommended for planting astrologers, thinkers and other curious folk in the ground from whence we came. Unconfirmed rumor: This book was intended to be just the introduction to Tarnas’s more recent mind-bender, Cosmos and Psyche: Intimations of a New World View.

Other books filed under Big, Huge Ideas: Man and His Symbols by Carl Jung, Boundaries of the Soul by June Singer, The Dream and the Underworld by James Hillman, and more. Take me to the Big, Huge Ideas section.

Exploring Your Inner Life
Memoirs, reflections and instruction books for turning inward for healing and wholeness.

For example, Can Love Last? The Fate of Romance Over Time by Stephen A. Mitchell describes a tug-of-war that frustrates many couples: the desire to connect paired with the fear of rejection. His clarity on the subject provides welcome relief for couples who love one another but are saddened or even threatened by the distancing that naturally — but not necessarily fatally — occurs over time. Understanding this dynamic, and others described in the books in this section, can bring about a healing awareness.

Other books filed under Exploring Your Inner Life: The Introvert Advantage by Marti Olsen Laney, The Highly Sensitive Person by Elaine N. Aron, The Heroine’s Journey by Maureen Murdock, and much more. Take me to the Exploring Your Inner Life section.

Expressing Your Inner Life
Books on using reflection, writing, art, ritual, storytelling and more to heal wounds, shift patterns and celebrate your deepest self.

For example, Writing as a Way of Healing by Louise DeSalvo is based on research that found that writing about upsetting experiences in a certain way can provide physical and emotional healing to the writer. The author documents the research, provides ample case studies and personal insight, and leads the reader through a specific way of approaching his or her writing in order to optimize healing and recovery.

Other books filed under Expressing Your Inner Life: Living Color: A Writer Paints Her World by Natalie Goldberg, and much more. Take me to the Expressing Your Inner Life section.
